The Lull

January 4th and I think I'm on top of things. I have done my grocery shopping, run all of the errands I accumulated and made an attempt to clean my room (a greater attempt will follow) and classes begin a week from today. My schedule is going to be awesome so I have no excuse to be super productive this semester.

I thought I'd attempt some new years resolutions. I found this site featured on Swiss-Miss, a design blog I read, and thought it was inspiring.

1. Dress up
2. Minimize my material possessions
3. Stay in touch
4. Grow my own herbs at home
5. Learn how to be a good cook
6. Be more green!
7. Dedicate myself to my Project 365!

Speaking of which, I thought I would offer an update on my progress. Italicized items are in progress and red ones are completed!

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
