EMPLOYMENT!

I got a job! Or it got me . . . I'm the new graphic designer for the Society of American Military Engineers and I couldn't be more excited! I start on Monday. Last week I was furiously working on my portfolio (the online version can be seen here) so I was busy, busy, busy.I'm excited for the new challenge and to meet new people. This means in 38 days I'll be moving to Virginia! The office is in Old Town Alexandria so I'm hoping to live in Arlington. That means that my next challenge is finding a place to live (no easy task). I'm happy to know that at least one part of my life is stable.

I decided to come home for the better part of the week. I was planning on coming to New Jersey this weekend to see my Aunt and Uncle because they're coming to visit but seeing as I got the job and don't start until Monday, I took a little vacation. This gives my mom, sister and I the opportunity to go shopping for work clothes!

I drove up today and am going into vacation mode. This includes waking up at 6am to go running with Dana in one of the most beautiful parks, the Mercer County Park, which has some great running/biking trails. Then we're starting the morning out with some shopping and we'll see how the day goes!

I think I say this every time I blog but I am going to try and keep up with it. I now have four blogs (obnoxious, I know). I'm using this newest one, a tumblr blog, as a way for me to share links I read on blogs or fun quotes or links to share. It's a versatile interface and it has an app I can update from my iPhone. I started it hoping it would turn into an online design portfolio but I got side tracked. I do want to make my own website. Maybe that will be a after work venture.

Since I like to have a photo in each entry, here's one I took this past weekend over the July 4th holiday when my parents were in town to see the fireworks. We went to the rehearsal of the Capitol Fourth Concert in front of the Capitol Building which featured Jimmy Smits as host and performers like Gladys Knight, David Archuletta, Lang Lang, and Darius Tucker. Not many of the celebrities were there for rehearsal but Jimmy Smits was hilarious!
